Hvar is ... challenge

Team competition "Hvar is...a challenge!" takes you through beauties and history of island Hvar. It shows where is the Queen Teuta's castle; what is the knowledge of Humac society; how to find the way to St. Nikola's and how does it look the fortress Hektorović.

It's the combination of mid - intensity cycling, walking and sailing with discovering touristic, culturistic and historical secrets of the island. It is »motivation training« for people who enjoy in company and discovering secrets, are actively involved in recreation and have serious relationship towards nature.

 

Competition terms
Teams can apply for any of the published terms until the hostel booking reaches a certain limit, determined by the event management. Condition for the team to participate for in the „Hvar is ...a challenge“ first prize is to apply for one of the published term during the current year.
Bigger groups (or joined teams) can organize their own term in agreement with the event management.

 

The price of 6-days package »Hvar..is a challenge« is 350,00* Eur per person and it includes:
5 day stay at Phara hostel (includes dinner and breakfast)
Informational map of the route, start number and T- shirt
Organization and competition in order
23% VAT and tourism tax

* price is valid till the end of season 2011

 Welcome party at Grill Duga (dinner, casting for start numbers, 1st stage info and team acquaintance through Dalmatian evening).
 

2nd Day / 1st stage - 50 km / Castle of queen Teuta
Gdinj ( START / Phara hostel) - Sučuraj (KT1 = Control point) - Sučuraj pristanište (KT2 - sailing by the sea) - Zaglav (KT3) - Gdinj (FINISH / Phara hostel)

 The end of 1st stage at Grill Duga (dinner, announcement of the leading team, description of the 2nd , Zaglav food and beverage specialities).
 

3rd day / 2nd stage - 33,5 km/ Lavender road
Jelsa (START) - Sveti Nikola (KT4 - highest peak of Hvar) - Stari Grad (KT5) - Jelsa (FINISH)

4th day / 3rd stage – 70 km / Seven lighthouses
Gdinj (START / Phara hostel) - Humac / Grapćeva špilja (KT6) - Vrisnik (KT7) - Poljica (KT8) - Gdinj (FINISH / Phara hostel)

6th day / departure
Breakfast at Phara hostel, departure untill 12.00 P.M. and goodbye with many fablous memories.

Competition ordinances

Registration
The only way to registrate the team is to use registration form. Pojedinačna prijava nije moguča. Single aplications are not possible. Your registration will be legal when confirmed by the organizer.

Team
Team counts from 3 - 4 members and they can be from any country in the world (both sexes). Ther is no age limit, but persons younger of age 15 have to be escorted by their parents or other adults with signed statement.

The team leader
Each team has to have he team leader Who:
  • Applies the whole team and submit the application payment under organizer's terms.
  • Informs the organizer about member's statues and changes
  • In the competition represents the whole team

Start and finish
Start
  • The teams start with 5 minutes delay by the time determined by the organizer.
  • Start in 1. Route is on start number's order in next routes it depends on apsdute time, which is accomplished by the team in previous route (the team with longest drive time will start first).
Finish
  • The team has to cross the finish line in the time that was determined by the oranizer and in the group (all teams members). Early arrival to the finish place is not possible, if the eam is late on determined time of finish, it gets 20 min on difference from the »term everage time«.

Control Point
On traces of the competition »Hvar is…a challenge« organizer determines the control points on which each team has to regiser on . Control point is opened in the time organizer determine before the start.

Finding the Control Point:
On the scheduled route the team has to visit all the control points (KT) which are determined by the organizer. For every undiscoverd control point or latenes on its opening time, there will be 10 min added to the difference on teams »term avarge time«..

Measuring results:
Team time: We measure the time which each team uses from start to finish. It is important how the time is used (biking, hiking, etc.) but to come to finish in the wright time. The finish Point is open for one hour in the time determined by the organizer.

Term winner
On ending of every competition »Hvar is...a challenge« in present year, the organizer is determining »team avarage time« based on acheived times of individual teams. The team whose time is the closest to avarage time is the »term winner«. In the term average time is counted bruto time with all addings received by individual teams during the competition.

Triumphant team = First Prize
After last competition term in present year, organizer counts all times of all teams in single terms , chooes the average of all terms. The team who is the closest to that time is the winner of the season »Hvar is…a challenge«.

Results
In seven days after last competition »Hvar… is a challenge« in present year, organizer will add the results and winning team on www.phara-hostel.com.

Equipment
For accomplishing all the tasks of Competition »Hvar… is challenge« it is needed to have mountain bike or »stronger« treking bike and suficient hiking equipment. The team is reliable for it's own equipment and service. The island of Hvar doesnt't have a service or a store with spare parts for bikes.

Safety
During the competition »Hvar… is a challenge« all participants have to respect all laws and orders of Republic of Croatia. They sould drive on their own responsability, respecting traffic regulatins and special laws towards nature and environment.
